Welcome to my first real forum post!
I wanted to start this off answering some of the questions I get asked the most which is usually related to what they need in order to do their first grow.
Firstly, there is no exact formula for what would be the "best" way to grow. There are so many growing styles and equipment to accommodate those styles that it all comes down to resources and preference.
Whenever you are preparing to start a grow there are a few considerations I always take:
-Legality: To me, this is always #1 priority. With laws always in constant fluctuation, it is important to understand and obey all your local and state laws.
-Security: This is always next for a couple of reasons. For the sake of your own safety, family, and of course plants; I suggest keeping as much of what you do to yourself. I also suggest you plan your growing space around an area where you will be able to safely access your garden while also keeping it private.
-Garden Space: People tend to look at an area and think "I can fit a few plants in there". While this is probably true, keep a few things in mind. Throughout your grow cycle there are several points in which you will need to work on your plants. Make sure you allow yourself some extra space to be able to see, inspect, and work on them without major disruption.
-Equipment: This is a tough one because again it comes down to 3 major factors. Space, money, and preference. If all you have is a closet and a couple hundred bucks, you may need to compromise with a couple plants and LED lights. If you have ample space, then you will have several options in the equipment you choose to best align with your growing preferences.
-Environment: This is obviously dependent on your garden space and equipment but probably has the largest effect on your grow as a whole. Having an environment which is stable year round through all parts of the grow cycle will set you up for the most success. Adding extra fresh air intake and CO2 will also allow the plants to withstand most fluctuations and thrive the most.
-Nutrients: I have mixed feelings regarding nutrients. Over my years I have tested almost every major manufacturer utilizing their entire lines. Some lines may only cost a couple hundred while others may cot upwards of a thousand for the entire line. I feel as if I have been able to pull our comparable results, regardless of the nutrient line; assuming all other factors are met.
-Genetics: This I have learned is by far the most important factor in the overall results of your grow. Genetics hold the key for the plants overall capabilities from everything such as quality, yield, THC content, resistance to bugs/mildew, etc. Make sure when choosing a genetic you look for something reliable and will provide you with the product you need.
There are obviously a lot more factors that need to be taken into account but these should cover about 90% of initial considerations. If you have any questions or need help getting yourself started, please feel free to ask.
As always, until next time.
